Rig Church Lagos (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through rigchurchlagos.org, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to meet the requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Who we are
Rig Church Lagos is a church community with its meeting place at Commerce House, 1 Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. For the purposes of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, Rig Church Lagos is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any question about this policy or about how we handle your information, write to us at info@rigchurchlagos.org or call +234 814 179 3339.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and enquiry details. When you use the form on our Contact page, we receive your name, your email address and the content of your message.
- Prayer requests, testimonies and pastoral conversations. If you choose to share these with us by email, by phone or in person, we treat them as confidential and handle them with care.
- Membership and Next Steps information. If you join a New Member Class, a ministry team, Rig University or another programme, we collect the details you provide on the relevant sign-up, such as your name, phone number, email address and the programme you are joining.
- Giving and partnership details. If you give by bank transfer, your name and the transaction details appear on our bank records. If you give or partner online, your payment is processed by Paystack on their own secure pages. We receive a record of the gift, but we never see or store your card number, PIN, CVV or bank login details.
Information collected automatically
Our website is a set of static pages. We do not run advertising trackers, marketing pixels or analytics software on this site. Our hosting provider does keep standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site running, secure and available, not to build a profile of you.
3. How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiries, prayer requests and pastoral needs.
- To welcome you, follow up with you and help you take your next step in the church.
- To run our services, events and programmes, including Rig University and Equipping the Saints.
- To administer giving and partnership, to acknowledge gifts and to keep proper financial records.
- To send you church news, event information and updates where you have asked to receive them.
- To keep our site and our community safe, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our contact lists to anyone.
4. Our lawful basis for using your information
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 we rely on one or more of the following:
- Your consent, for example when you submit an enquiry form or ask to join a mailing list. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract or a request you have made, for example registering you for a programme or processing a partnership.
- Legitimate interests, such as caring pastorally for our members, running the church well and protecting our site from misuse.
- Legal obligation, such as keeping accounting records or responding to a lawful request from a competent authority.
5. Third-party services we rely on
Some parts of our site depend on trusted external providers. When you use those parts, information may pass through or be collected by them under their own privacy policies:
- FormSubmit delivers messages sent through our contact form to our church inbox at info@rigchurchlagos.org.
- Hostinger Reach stores the email address you give when you sign up for our weekly newsletter and sends that newsletter. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe.
- Paystack processes online giving, welfare fund gifts and monthly partnership payments on its own secure pages.
- YouTube (Google) hosts our sermon videos. We embed them in privacy-enhanced mode, which limits the data YouTube collects until you press play.
- Google Maps powers the map on our Contact page, and Google Fonts serves the typeface used across the site.
- Hostinger hosts our website and serves many of the images used on our pages.
We encourage you to read the privacy policies of these providers if you would like to understand their practices in detail.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Rig Church Lagos does not place tracking or advertising cookies on your device through this website. Embedded content such as a YouTube video or a Google map may set cookies or similar identifiers when it loads or when you interact with it. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, though blocking some cookies may affect how embedded videos and maps behave.
7. When we share information
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with:
- Members of our pastoral, administrative and ministry teams who need it to serve you, and who are expected to keep it confidential.
- Service providers who process information on our behalf, such as those listed in section 5.
- Our bank, auditors or professional advisers, where required for financial administration.
- A competent authority, where we are required to disclose information by law.
8. How we protect your information, and how long we keep it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the information you give us, including limiting access to those who need it and serving our site over a secure connection. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce the risk.
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as the law requires us to keep it. Enquiries that need no further action are cleared in the normal course of housekeeping, while membership and financial records are kept for as long as the relationship and our record-keeping obligations continue.
9. Transfers outside Nigeria
Some of the providers listed in section 5 store or process data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that the provider offers an adequate level of protection, consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
10. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it.
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on.
- Ask us to transfer your information to you or to another organisation in a usable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@rigchurchlagos.org. We will respond as promptly as we reasonably can. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
11. Children and young people
Our website is not directed at children. Where a child takes part in a church programme, we collect their information only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and we use it only to care for the child and run the programme safely. If you believe we hold information about a child without the necessary consent, please contact us and we will remove it.
12. Links to other websites
Our pages link to other sites, including rignation.org, our Paystack giving pages, our social media pages and our staff platform at nextsteps.rigchurchlagos.org. This policy does not cover those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our ministry, our systems or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Where a change is significant, we will make that clear on this page.
